Manic Panic Amplified Vampire Red

Vampire Red from Manic Panic's Amplified range is a luscious, highly-pigmented blood red shade. On bleached hair you will achieve the most vibrant deep red result, but this colour can also be used on unbleached hair for a gorgeous dark red tint. Why not combine with other red shades like Wildfire for a fiery ombre look?

Manic Panic Amplified formulation is proven to retain colour intensity for 30% longer than the Classic Cream formulation. Manic Panic hair dye has not been tested on animals and contains no animal products.

It's incredibly pigmented and the colour lasted incredibly long. I ended up having red hair for 6 months because it stayed so long!
So I made the switch from crazy colours to this to see if it was good. I am now on my second bottle.

The colour is rich and glossy which I love, get complimented all the time. It is easy to apply although old school with a bag on my head and hairdryer on the go.

I get a full head plus 2 touch ups out of a bottle. I have thin shoulder length hair. It lasts 3/4 weeks unlike other dyes (my hair will even wash permanent out in two weeks!)

Love it, I am converted.
So far I've found this dye to be absolutely lovely and here are a couple of things I noted about it:

1) My hair is medium thickness and some centimeters past my waist and I needed about 2 dye bottles. I still have about 1/4 to 1/5 of dye left in one of the bottles.
2) I used this on my unbleached hair (which I would describe as a medium golden brown) and it showed up really well. It's a nice 'work-appropriate' red in artificial light, but looks way cooler outside in the sunlight. If I had to describe it I would say it looks purplish/pinkish red in natural light - a tone that is very pleasing to the eye.
3) Application is easy, since there is no time limit during which the dye works. You can take your sweet, sweet time (I did). Just make sure to wear gloves and clothing that won't be ruined in the case the dye gets on it, rubbing some vaseline or some such thing on your skin near your hairline is probably a good idea, too, as it should stop the dye from staining your skin as fast.
4) Can't say anything about the dye staining anything during the rinsing out process, as I decided to be lazy and instead of just rinsing it out straight out, I would alternate between rinsing my hair for a minute or two, then letting the bathtub drain and going with clean water over wherever the dyed water had been. I had no bleach at home and I'm lazy, so this seemed simpler. Albeit probably more expensive in regards to the water wasted.
5) I haven't washed it yet after dying, so I've no idea about how fast it washes out, but it does stain. My pillowcase in now a light pinkish colour, so are the collars of some of my shirts, and that is with me always wearing my hair up in a bun, so it's just dye that has rubbed off on my skin during the night and then transferred onto my clothing. Though I expected that, so I can't say it's a big surprise. Ultimately, I do believe it should wash out just fine from the cloth that has been stained.

All in all, this has been a very lovely dye so far, though I can't yet speak about it in the long-run.
First time I've ever used Manic Panic and I'm very impressed. I did not bleach my hair beforehand and it came out incredibly bright - have had tons of compliments. My hair is thick and to mid back and I used about 1.5 bottles.
Absolutely love this colour and it's my favourite red if all the range! Every time I use this I get no end of people asking me what colour I use and complimenting it
I have been using this red for about 8 months now, it's fantastic. It lasts for ages - between 8 and 12 weeks before it goes pink, and that's still a pretty nice colour. It's really easy to apply and goes quite a long way, I have fairly long hair and I only need 2 bottles. And the colour is gorgeous - it's such a vibrant red, I get so many complements. Love love love it!

  • Dyes usually last between 8-12 washes and fade out gradually over time. Dry shampoo can help you to prolong the colour and using a good quality conditioner can help slow fading a little.
  • Darker shades may give a sheen of colour to darker hair but we recommend pre-lightening for the best results.
  • Lighter colours and blues are recommended for use over very light and bleached hair.
  • Dye results cannot be guaranteed always try a strand test to check possible results.
  • Always follow manufacturers instructions fully.

Helpful Hints:

Shampoo the hair with a pH acid balanced shampoo, this will give the hair the correct acid balance, allowing your dye to achieve the best results. Hair should be washed / clean and dry before dying. We recommend using shampoo but not conditioning before dying. Generously apply to hair, starting at your roots. We recommend dividing your hair into sections to get the entire length of your hair. Feel free to massage it in, it will not damage your hair or your scalp. Processing time is generally 15-30 minutes but double check the instructions on your dye, a plastic cap will contain the heat on the hair helping to achieve a better result. Rinse the hair thoroughly away from the face with warm water until all the residue dye has been removed. You can optionally shampoo to reduce colour bleeding. Condition thoroughly. Semi-permanent hair dye will take faster, and last longer, on chemically treated hair e.g. permed or bleached. If more than one colour is applied the hair must be washed and dried separately, greater care must be taken when partially colouring lighter hair.

  • Do wear rubber or plastic gloves when applying the hair colour.
  • Do use vaseline, petroleum jelly or baby oil around the hairline and ears, to avoid staining skin.
  • As with all hair colours, we advise a swatch test first.

  • Do not mix semi-permanent dye with peroxide.
  • Do not use on eyelashes or eyebrows
  • Do not use shampoo with conditioner.
