Sticks out on the abdomen

Oh I SOOO wanted to love this top! I love the aesthetic of straps and O-Rings, it's so darn cool! Just my taste. The pros: +Adjustable straps at LAST! Killstar have needed to incorporate adjustable straps into their designs for a long time. There are so many Killstar dresses and tops I've had to send back because the straps have been way too long, meaning that these items have often sagged below bra level. Both the shoulder straps and straps across the chest are adjustable, which is great. It's the first time ever a low cut top from Killstar has been able to fit my chest/shoulders! +It zips completely open at the back, meaning you can zip it up around your middle, then spin it around and pull up the shoulder straps - no faffing trying to get a complex mess of straps over your head! This also means you don't have to get your nice black top covered in sunscreen, deodorant and makeup stains as soon as you put it on over your head! +REALLY cool looking and sexy, even suitable for someone in their 30s. The cons: - Here's the problem: The length of the top is too short so that the bottom of it sticks out rather than sitting flush with your body. It looks really weird and unflattering. I'm someone with a short abdomen as well, so it's not that my body's too long for it. If you pull it down over your tummy, it does then sit flat, but upon doing so, the cup area of the chest is now level with your middle, so it obviously can't be worn this way! If they had used a different material like cotton, or if they had just made the top longer, this wouldn't have been an issue. It's that stretchy, kinda rigid, shiny material that wants to do it's own thing and doesn't want to hang nicely or shape to your body. I normally wear a size UK8 on top, so I ordered the XS and the S. The XS seemed more appropriate. Both had this issue of the bottom of the top sticking out though. I had hoped sizing up would help. The S creased on the back with an excess of material suggesting it is too large for me. - Strange shaped cups. I assume this top may have been designed to be worn without a bra as it has seams in the cups. However, as a 30E, the cups are not substantial enough to provide enough cover or support. I always wear a bra for lift anyway. At my size, the cups on this top only cover half of my bra cup (a problem I repeatedly find with Killstar). A plain black bra would probably be alright with it though. The seams on the cups give the boob area a strange angular shape, rather than a round smooth shape, which looks a bit odd, at least on me. If you have a very small bust, it might look better. - Synthetic material - bad for the environment, hot in summer and cold in winter and unlike cotton, cannot be re-dyed once faded to get a longer lifespan from it. I wish gothic/alternative brands would stick to natural materials. Killstar have some of the coolest designs for clothing around. It's often the only brand that caters to my taste, but they really have such issues creating a decent fit that could easily be rectified. If they actually made the effort to tailor things to a good standard and used better quality materials, they would no doubt sell a lot more clothing! (Or have less sent back). SO close Killstar, come on, you can do better!
