Behind the Scenes at Kate’s Clothing: Welcoming Romy to the Team

If you’ve been following Kate’s Clothing for a while, you’ll know that although the shop might look quite big online these days, behind the scenes it’s teeny tiny. In fact with all the fun and games with warehouse troubles and all sorts of thoroughly unnecessary trouble, for a while there it got down to just me.

Last year Marjorie joined me to help with customer service and some of the day-to-day running of the business. As much as I’d love to claim superpowers, it turns out I can’t actually do everything myself. Occasionally I insist on getting most inconveniently ill, occasionally I need to sleep, and sometimes I even like to selfishly spend time with my kids.

Having Marjorie on board has made a huge difference already. It means your messages get answered faster, problems get sorted quicker, and the whole shop runs more smoothly.

Now we’re taking the next step and welcoming Romy to the team.

Romy is joining us to focus on digital marketing and helping Kate’s Clothing reach new audiences. The internet moves quickly, and part of keeping an independent business alive for the long term is making sure we continue to evolve and stay visible in a crowded world of fast fashion and big retailers.

In simple terms, she’s helping make sure that the people who would love Kate’s Clothing can actually find us.

For me, building a small team like this is about securing the future of the business. Kate’s Clothing has been around since 2004, and my goal is to make sure it’s still here, still independent, still alternative, still proudly gothic, for many years to come.
