Behind the Seams: How Our Necessary Evil Designs Are Made in the UK
Share
We thought it was about time we gave you a little peek behind the (lace-trimmed) curtain…
Recently, our UK manufacturer kindly sent us some behind-the-scenes photos while they were working on a fresh run of some of our signature Necessary Evil designs – including the Evaki Dress, the Circe Mesh Top, and the Anahita Mesh Layer Dress. These are pieces I designed myself and are exclusive to us, which makes seeing them come to life all the more exciting.
Each item starts as an idea – something bold but wearable, timeless but still a little dramatic – and is brought into the real world by a talented team of machinists, cutters, and pattern experts right here in the UK. These aren't fast fashion pieces churned out by the thousand. They’re made in sensible small batches to help keep things practical for our manufacturers, while still maintaining the heart and soul of slow fashion.
The Necessary Evil ethos has always been about designing garments you’ll want to wear again and again. We focus on versatile silhouettes, classic goth details, and fabrics that feel as good as they look. These are pieces built to live in your wardrobe for years – not just one party, shoot, or season.
It’s a real privilege to work with a local team who take such pride in their craft, and who treat each garment with care as it passes through every stage of production – from the first cut of fabric to the final stitch. We’re proud to support skilled UK makers, and proud that our customers get something genuinely special every time they order a Necessary Evil original.
Scroll through the photos to see your favourite goth staples in the making – and thank you for supporting independent design and British manufacturing.
